SASNM 2021 is pleased to offer a limited number of bursaries. Applications will open on 24 January 2020 and applications must be submitted by 30 September 2020. They will be assessed by the SASNM 2021 Bursary Committee.
Bursaries are intended to assist trainees (Nuclear Medicine/Radiography/Medical Physics/Radiopharmacy) to attend the SASNM 2021 Congress. Bursaries will take the form of waived registration fees and no cash will be disbursed. Travel and accommodation expenses (e.g. flights, accommodation, meals outside of the congress, visas, travel insurance, inoculations, etc.) remain the responsibility of the bursary recipient.
Preference will be given to:
o Trainees (Nuclear Medicine/Radiography/Medical Physics/Radiopharmacy)
o SASNM members
o The bursaries are intended to support individuals who would not otherwise be able to meet the registration fee required to attend the congress.
The award of a bursary will be conditional upon the recipient:
• Registering for the congress by 15 October 2020
• Demonstrating that they can meet all the travel and accommodation costs associated with attending the congress
• Attending the full congress and associated social events
Applicants will need to complete an application form which will be made available here when the submission system opens in January 2020.
On the form you will need to provide a 300-word motivation. This motivation should give a detailed explanation of (1) why you wish to attend SASNM 2021 (2) any innovations or publications you have contributed to, (3) the contribution that you believe your attendance will make to the congress and to your affiliated institution, and (4) why you require financial assistance to attend the congress. You will also need to upload your brief (2 page) Curriculum Vitae (CV).
The closing date for applications is 30 September 2020.
The SASNM Bursary Committee will review the applications and determine the successful recipients. Applicants will be informed of the outcome of their application by email in October 2020. Accommodation at the official Congress hotel can be booked via the online registration system.
Rates quoted are per room, per night, including breakfast, including 15% VAT and the compulsory 1% Government Tourism Levy. All reservations are made on a “first come, first served” basis and terms and conditions do apply. The stated room rates were valid through 3 December 2020.

SASNM 2021 Terms and Conditions
Full payment is required 7 days from invoice; no admission without pre-payment.
All payments to be made payable to SASNM.
All cancellations must be received in writing.
Cancellation fees will be imposed as follows:
Cancellations 90 days prior to the start of the Congress will receive a full refund less a 10% administration fee.
Cancellations between 89 and 30 days prior to the start of the Congress will be refunded 50% of registration fees paid; if registration fees are outstanding the attendee will be liable for 50% of the registration fees.
No refunds will be provided for cancellations within 30 days of the start the Meeting or no-shows and the attendee will be liable for full registration fees.
Completed registrations will be acknowledged within seven (7) days.
Registrations are transferable to attendees not yet registered only if the Congress Secretariat is informed in writing.
All fees are payable in South African Rand (ZAR) within seven (7) days of invoice. Any short payment resulting from bank charges and/or exchange rate fluctuations will be charged back to the attendee.
Registrations may not be shared, i.e. shared name tags will not be issued and name tags may not be shared.
LIMITATION OF LIABILITY IN RELATION TO THE CONGRESS
SASNM reserves the right to cancel the Congress without notice or compensation in the event of any delay, default, failure or cancellation of implementation of any deliverable to or for the Congress which has been caused, directly or indirectly, by any incident of “force majeure”. For the purposes hereof, the term “force majeure” shall mean any incident, circumstance or cause which renders delivery of the Congress substantially or totally impossible or impracticable and which is beyond the control of the SASNM. The term shall include but not be limited to the following:
- Any strike, or other industrial action of any kind;
- Fire, flood, or adverse weather conditions;
- Unavoidable breakdown or destruction of facilities or equipment;
- Failure of carriers, delays in performance or delivery by sub-contractors or any other breach by a third party of a material obligation towards the SASNM;
- Power failure;
- Promulgation/amendment/rescission of any relevant legislation or regulation by local or national government;
- Any occurrence of any nature which renders it reasonably necessary for the SASNM to cancel the Congress.
In such circumstances, the SASNM, the Congress Local Organising Committee and the Congress Organisers are hereby indemnified and shall not be liable to any attendee, supplier or other service provider for any loss or damage save that the SASNM shall only be liable to reimburse the relevant party such amounts as may actually have been received by the SASNM, but after deduction of any costs that have been reasonably incurred by it up to the point of cancellation in preparing the Congress. This limited liability does not extend to any payments that may have been made directly or indirectly (on behalf of delegates/attendees/service providers, etc.) to third parties such as hotels or airlines.
SASNM, the Congress Local Organising Committee and Congress Organisers shall not be responsible for any theft, breakage, destruction or damages of any kind whatsoever and howsoever caused to personal and/or business items of attendees, accompanying persons, children, or other attendees.
All attendees are to make themselves fully aware of the health and visa requirements in respect of travel to South Africa; in the event that an individual is unable to participate in the Congress due to not meeting these requirements in any way; the SASNM, Congress Local Organising Committee and the Congress Organisers will not accept responsibility in any respect.
